Weft hair extensions after care

Brushing your hair extensions

Use a soft-bristle brush and start at the ends, working your way up.

Hold each section just above where you're brushing to avoid tension.

Once you reach the roots, place your hand over the beads for support to prevent pulling.

Shampooing Your Hair extensions

To maintain the health and longevity of your 100% human hair extensions, it's best to limit washing to no more than twice a week. Over-washing can disrupt the natural pH balance of your hair and extensions, causing them to dry out more quickly.

By washing less frequently, your scalp’s natural oils can nourish the extensions, keeping them moisturised, soft, and healthy. On non-wash days, a lightweight dry shampoo can help refresh your hair without stripping away moisture.

Work your fingers horizontally between the wefts in a side-to-side motion - avoid rubbing in circles.

Avoid rough handling, as it can cause knotting or matting.

After shampooing, gently squeeze out excess water instead of rubbing with a towel.

Conditioning Your Hair Extensions

The key to long-lasting, healthy hair extensions is moisture and protection. After every wash, apply a lightweight leave-in conditioner or a high-quality serum to gently coat the hair and protect the cuticle. This helps to prevent dryness and maintain a smooth, silky texture.

For extra hydration, it's recommended to deep condition your hair extensions once a week using an intense moisturising treatment. This will help replenish moisture, keeping your extensions soft, shiny, and healthy for longer.

Apply conditioner from mid-lengths to ends - avoid the roots to prevent slippage.

Work the conditioner through using your hands or a wide-tooth comb if needed.

Leave in for 5 minutes, then rinse thoroughly.

Blow-Drying & Styling Your Hair Extensions

Be gentle - Avoid excessive tension, as it can loosen the beads and put stress on your natural hair.

Section your hair properly - Work row by row, starting from the bottom and moving up to ensure even drying and styling.

Dry the weft area first - Focus on drying the roots and wefts before moving to the mid-lengths and ends.

Smooth with a round brush - Once the wefts are dry, either dry off the mid-lengths and ends or use a round brush for a sleek, polished finish.

Do’s & Don’ts

✔ Brush with care - Only use a wide-tooth comb or a tangle teaser on wet hair to remove tangles.

✔ Tie your hair back before swimming - Always secure your extensions in a low ponytail or braid before entering the pool or ocean.

✔ Rinse after swimming - If you're at the beach or pool, rinse your hair with fresh water afterward to remove chlorine or salt. Towel-dry and apply a moisturising leave-in conditioner to prevent tangling.

✔ Dry sweaty roots after workouts - If you go to the gym, dry the weft area with a blow dryer to prevent moisture buildup and reduce slippage.

✔ Sleep on a silk pillowcase - A silk pillowcase reduces friction and prevents tangling while you sleep.

✔ Use gentle hair ties - Instead of rubber bands, opt for:

  • Silk scrunchies

  • Spiral hair ties

  • Soft fabric hair ties

✖ Don’t brush wet hair extensions with a paddle brush - Wet hair is fragile and prone to breakage. Instead, wait until it’s damp and use a wide-tooth comb or a detangle teaser to gently remove knots.

✖ Don’t use heat tools daily - Limit curling and straightening to once or twice a week to maintain the longevity of your extensions.

✖ Don’t sleep with wet hair - Sleeping with damp hair causes friction and knotting. Always dry your hair before bed.

✖ Don’t tie hair in a messy bun at the gym - Keep your hair neatly secured in a ponytail or plait to prevent tangling.

✖ Don’t chemically treat extensions - Avoid bleaching, colouring, or perming your extensions, as this can damage them.

✖ Don’t use rubber bands - They cause breakage and stress on the extensions.

Application & Reapplication

Application

Reapplication & Maintenance

✔ Precise Placement - The wefts are carefully positioned against the scalp for a natural, seamless look.

✔ Discreet & Comfortable - Wefts are placed two fingers away from the hairline, ensuring they remain hidden while allowing you to tie your hair back without visible beads.

✔ Blending with Natural Hair - A section of natural hair is taken from above and below the hair extension piece, along with a small section from the middle of the weft.

✔ Secure Attachment - The weft is firmly secured with silicone micro beads using professional pliers, ensuring durability and comfort.

✔ Reapplication is required every 6-8 weeks to maintain the best results.

✔ Keeping your hair extensions close to the scalp is crucial -excess regrowth creates friction, leading to tangling and knotting.

✔ Well-maintained weft extensions prevent tension and pulling on your natural hair, ensuring long-term hair health.

✔ When should you reapply? As a general rule, when the regrowth reaches two fingers between the scalp and weft, it's time for a refresh!
